Know which invoice still needs payment.
Review outstanding amounts at bill level where bill-by-bill accounting is configured. An account total is useful; invoice references make payment follow-up more specific.

Invoice-wise remaining amounts
A party balance tells you how much. Bill allocation tells you which invoices.
Bill-by-bill outstanding links settlement amounts with individual invoices. This helps the accounts team distinguish an unpaid old bill from a recent bill that has not yet fallen due, even when both contribute to the same customer balance.
Enable and use the supported bill-wise workflow consistently. Record the opening references where needed, then allocate receipts or adjustments to the relevant bills. A part-payment should leave the remaining amount visible against its invoice rather than obscuring which obligation was settled.
How to use it.
Know which invoice still needs payment.
- 01
Enable and prepare the supported bill-wise setup
- 02
Allocate receipts against the intended references
- 03
Review outstanding bills and unresolved allocations
What this looks like in your business.
A customer pays two of three invoices. The follow-up should refer to the remaining invoice rather than just an unexplained total.

Why can the party balance look correct but the outstanding list look wrong?
The receipt may be posted to the correct party without being allocated to the correct invoice. Review both the account entry and bill reference; changing the total alone does not fix allocation.
What setup should I confirm?
Confirm opening allocations, advances and partial receipts during setup. Old unallocated transactions need review.
